I had a cute title, but neither one of us can remember it....

Gah!!  We must be getting old.

Rich took a day and a half vacation time, so we headed out to the house Friday afternoon...

This is a list of what we accomplished before heading home about 3pm today... (sorry for the caps, Rich made the list and sent it to me and I am not retyping it so we aren't shouting..)

DINING ROOM
    FINISHED BEADBOARD
    PAINTED CEILING
    PAINTED AND INSTALLED CROWN MOLDING
    INSTALLED WINDOW CASING
    FILLED NAIL HOLES

BATHROOM
    INSTALLED GREEN BOARD AND DRYWALL
    MUD/TAPE
    SANDED
    MUD/TAPE (yes, again)
    INSTALLED TOILET WATER SUPPLY LINE
    INSTALLED TOILET SEWER LINE
    PRIMED CEILING

KITCHEN
    PAINTED AND INSTALLED WINDOW CASING

Yea, that's a lot... and here are the photos to prove it..

that's green board over the shower.  It is a special kind of drywall that is resistant to mold and moisture...

We caulked all surfaces that we were told to per the instructions...which was 9 areas...

finished the installation of the shower faucet handle

and added the shower head...

Installed the toilet sewer line.  Yes, we had to cut into that black pipe and we added all the pretty white PVC pipe.  There's a closet flange (not seen here), T-junction, 2-45's, a couplng and some straight pipe.. and we only made 2 trips to town for all the supplies.  With plumbing you very seldom get all the parts you need in one trip...

We can't install the shower doors yet, so we bought a curtain rod, shower curtain and rings.  We could shower...although the shower curtain is a bit short and we got some water on the floor, but WHO CARES!!

See that silver pipe up there?  I can't count the times Rich has hit his head on it going into the basement..

The cats were watching us through the kitchen window...I think they can hear the microwave "ding" and they are pretty sure they are getting some warm milk...

This is how you bring home the crown moulding and window casing when one is 12ft long and one is 10ft long...
dining room ceiling painted...
Now lets start with the crown moulding..  Rich was fairly certain he knew how to cut the compound miters.  Which means you have to cut two miters at the same time.  So off he went...

These are all the WRONG CUTS...  So I got out my iPad and googled "compound miter cuts for crown moulding" and we did some cheats...  We labeled all 4 corners in the dining room with which end got an "A" cut and which ends got a "B" cut.   Once you cut and nail them onto the wall, it's hard to tell which is which..
Our "cheat sheets" Can you read them?   Left one says A, right says B..
And then we made these cheat boards...  Each board represented an "A" or "B" cut.  We had them right behind the miter saw and paid close attention to them.  We only made one wrong cut after this...
More cheat sheets...or cheat boards..

Crown Moulding

Window casing

We had two wild animal sightings this weekend.  The first was Saturday night around 8.... I looked out the kitchen french doors to see a possum eating out of the cat feeder... I couldn't move fast enough to get a photo.  He returned Sunday night around the same time...still couldn't get a picture.. and he ran off when Rich tried to sneak up on him from the sun room...

And we also had a visit from a Heron.  He landed on the pond and stood near the edge looking for dinner... and I caught him snagging a fish.. I couldn't believe I had the camera on record...

You have to look very closely.  He stands there very still and then dips his head into the pond, grabs the fish and swallows...  sorry, it looks like the video is sideways.. I didn't take it sideways so maybe blogger is playing games...

Here is still that shows the Heron a bit better...

Maybe your title was "I'm clean at last"???? LOL Funny how that cat was looking in the window. And what fun to have wildlife right outside your door. It won't be long now and you'll be done out there!!! YAY!!! (Do you have a target date to make the move?)

Reference guides are not cheats!

Yeah for a working shower.

You need to tie some bright orange caution tape streamers to the silver pipe, you can make it like a bead curtain. :)

Herons are fascinating to watch.
I love reading your progress list. It is so much fun for me to follow your journey. Thanks for sharing.

Had to giggle about your molding. We ended up doing the same thing when we were putting ours up. Don't remember how many cuts we made, but when we did get it right I wasn't going through that again. Even marked them too! (Think I still have those pieces around here someplace.

We used to have a Heron that would visit when we camped on the river fishing. We named him Charlie and now whenever we see one it's always Charlie. He is the first thing I thought of when I saw your post. Thanks for the smiles this morning. Take Care!!

Looking good! Love seeing the heron at the edge of the pond. Before long you will be moving in and seeing all kinds of nature.

Have a super good weekend.
